Psycho-Cybernetics

I haven't read a self-help book in a long while, but something about the neo-futuristic cover of this book just made me pick it up, out of curiosity. Maxwell Maltz' classic from the 1950s gets into the concept of using your imagination to your advantage, relating the human mind to the cybernetic machines (self-steering).
The book tries to make understand that you should be striving for goals even when you don't know the way to them. This concept of self-actualization is something that's been studied over and over. Maltz goes into vivid detail that the body is a servo-mechanism which would mean that if there's a goal, there is a way that the mind will find itself- you just have to believe
The funniest thing is that Maltz was not a psychologist by profession, but a plastic surgeon instead. I always find it fascinating when people go cross-domain to get deeper into their interests specifically. I think the same about myself- I've been studying electronics engineering in university, I've done my internships in data science, I have a strong interest in finance and the global economy while all my hobbies are outdoor sports activities.
Maybe the activities that seem to show low correlation have intrinsic value on a deeper scale
